The dynasty of Grimaldi governs "the city state": 1,95 km² since January 8, 1297. This year François Grimaldi which seized the fortress disguised in monk. This explain the presence of franciscain monks on the coat of arms

Monaco was a french city (1793 à 1814) and named "Fort Hercule". After that the city was Sardinian  (1860). In 1861, a treaty ensures the sovereignty of Monaco while being related to France.



This is the same coins (size, metal) that 10 french franc.

1 franc de Rainier 2 (1922-49) en bronze aluminium. Cette pièce n'a pas de date gravée, elle est en fait de 1945.

Monaco has several teams of football and take part in the French championship. ASM (Association Sportive Monégasque)  is in league 1 Palmarès
